Roundtown’s goal is to connect people and places to the future, but honor the neighborhood's history and culture. Placemaking shows people just how powerful their collective vision can be. It helps them to re-imagine everyday spaces, and to see anew the potential of old buildings such as the 90-year old Fayette County gymnasium that Roundtown has turned into a building that is utilized to serve the community.
Roundtown understands that creating exceptional communities extends well beyond building or refurbishing new buildings. Successful developments require a deep investment and understanding in a neighborhood’s culture by presenting new, exciting opportunities for its residents and patrons. As such, Roundtown is dedicated to optimizing spaces and creating dynamic environments that ACTIVATE the current community and ATTRACT more people and businesses to join it. Roundtown values community, connection and the future while staying true to their roots of being a good neighbor.

- Micheal Thompson, Founder & CEO at Roundtown Collaborations
As both an overarching idea and a hands-on approach for improving a neighborhood, city, or region, placemaking inspires people to collectively reimagine and reinvent public spaces as the heart of their community. Strengthening the connection between people and the places they share, placemaking offers a collaborative process to shape public spaces to maximize the value for everyone. Placemaking pays attention to the physical, cultural and social aspects that define a place and support its ongoing evolution.
Creating great places is an ever-evolving process. Because every situation is different, the steps are not always exactly the same, nor do they always happen in the same order. The most important step in the placemaking process is implementation—putting the vision into action.
With community-based participation at its center, an effective placemaking process capitalizes on a local community's assets, inspiration, and potential, and it results in the creation of quality public spaces that contribute to people's health, happiness, and well being.
